Study on Rock Damage Mechanism for Lateral Blasting under High In Situ Stresses

A 3D numerical model was presented to investigate the blast-induced damage characteristics of highly stressed rock mass. The RHT (Riedel, Hiermaier, and Thoma) in LS-DYNA used simulate its parameters were calibrated by a physical test. Based on model, influences confining pressure free surface span investigated. results show that under uniaxial loading, crater volume increases with increases. static load can change optimal burden critical embedding depth charge. In rock, variation law shape affected radial tensile fractures is opposite reflected fractures. Under biaxial load, borehole placed side max greater than other side. explosion be improved increasing same Finally, it suggested blasting efficiency preferentially detonating charge then detonated wider span.
